Default EFI in early 1st gen: Part II

I thought about bringing an old thread from a couple of months ago back to life, but too many of the details have changed since then. So, here we have part II. Tommorow morning, I will be picking up a 5.9 from a 1994, complete with harness, PCM and all accessories. The EFI portion of it, and eventually the whole engine will be going into my '78 Power Wagon. I currently have a 5.2 Magnum that is carb'd. I have a few questions, so hang with me...

1) Will the 5.9 PCM supply the correct pulse width to the injectors to make my 5.2 run smoothly, or do I need a 5.2 PCM?

2) My PCM is from an automatic trans. truck. I have a manual.
A- Will the computer run the engine even though it doesnt "see" the transmission or
B- Can my PCM be re-flashed to delete the auto trans configuration?

3) I want to keep my stock gas tank as-is. Is there an inexpensive, inline fuel pump that self regulates to appx 49 psi? (also double checking to see if that is the correct psi I should be running.)

4) Has anyone built this type of system before and if so, any tips?

5) I understand that the pre 95's require a return fuel line? Double checking that as well.

6) I have detailed diagrams and schematics from a '95. Is that all the same gear as the '94? Same info apply?

Thanks in advance guys, Scooter.

There is no smell from my computer when I read your posts. LOL

You might be able to get a better response from the 2nd Gen site since you are asking about 2nd Gen equipment.

2nd gen lurker here.

A 94 5.9 PCM will not exactly be easy to jack with. First off, since you're running it in a 5.2 it will be rich UNLESS you have it reflashed to the 5.2 fuel sync.

Secondly, you're using an auto PCM, so it might (likely will) pitch a fit when it sees there isn't a transmission there...

Thirdly, a 78 doesn't have the idiot lights or any of the sensors the 95 does, so that would be a PITA.....

Thanks SEAL, I was starting to wonder... Lol. You might be right about going to the 2nd gen section. Maybe a Mod can help me out? Or should I just repost over there?
Dodge Dude - So the PCM can be reflashed? As for the idiot lights, I really only need one - a check engine light. I was thinking a plain 'ole amber indicator light would work. I have gauges for the rest.
I know it can be done, and I know its a ton easier than the OBDII systems to swap in.
Also, I can handle PITA... I married a redhead.

The PCM can be reflashed, the problem is finding someone that can do it without charging you and arm, leg, and your first born.
I don't even know which sensors not being there would make it flip out. The speedo, for example, in the 94 is read off the transmission and goes through the PCM to the gauges, and the 78 goes straight from the trans to the gauges. Gonna be a few things but you should be able to do it.

*edit*
I see your edit. Redheads can be a pain.

Just copy and paste your original post over to a thread on the 2nd GEN site. What dodge dude 94 is telling you makes sense from what I have heard about the 2nd Gens but I haven't messed with them.
