Default 1982 D150 Trans Inspection Northern VA

Hey guys and girls,

I am looking for a transmission shop in the Northern Virginia area that can do a health check on my 904 Lock-up trans. It is shifting funny when it is cold and it tends to jerk a little between 2nd and 3rd. I have recently replaced the trans filter and some of the fluid; I did not empty the torque converter. The truck has 63,000 original miles on it and I suspect it needs some band adjustment work. I am hoping someone on the forum knows of a shop that will understand this tranny versus taking it to AMMCO or some other franchise shop that no longer has talent that understands these older transmissions. That is not to say that if some recommends a franchise shop I will be adverse to going there as long as they have someone that has some knowledge of my year and model tranny. TIA - Dean

Ask SEAL. Better yet, get the man himself to do it! Just kidding SEAL, obviously I can't volunteer anybody else to work on somebody's car. But really, SEAL may be able to point you to a good shop. Of course, I think he's pretty far south, near my uncle in Roanoke, so maybe not.

I could help with a shop if you were near Roanoke but not in northern Va. The symptoms don't sound like bands but it never hurts to adjust them properly. I would first check the throttle linkage adjustment for any shift problem.

Default Thanks For The Reply

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the reply. I will check the shift linkage Seal. I have also read the primer on AllPar http://www.allpar.com/mopar/transmis...-tom-hand.html and it sounds like the typical problems the A727 has when its cold are what I am experiencing. Thanks again!!

Dbanta,

I live in Falls Church and have used Hi Tech Transmissions and like their work. They are located on Route 29 (Lee Highway) west of Merrifield near Cedar Lane.
