Smog or no smog?
You are in good company here, then. My vote will always go towards de-smogging an engine. As long as it wont get you in trouble with the law, I would go for it.
Some progress...
I've ordered a rebuilt and custom ThermoQuad that bolts on to the stock Quadrajet intake. I'll also swap the distributor, either for a remanufactured early 70's 340 unit or a Mopar Performance. Together with headers it'll be a nice little upgrade.
And about headers, the only ones available locally are Flowmaster. I stayed away from them when I had a 'cuda because of supposedly poor fit but I figure that there's more room in a truck and hence they should be ok. What do you say?

A distributor from -72 and should be a direct swap because, IIRC, that was the year Mopar ignition went electronic. But I'm leaning towards a kit from Mancini complete with box, wires and coil.
