the ecm came from the factory. does the truck run good? if it runs good and has a cat it might pass. the truck is old enough that an emissions testing place may or may not know what is suppose to be there. i would guess they would just rely on what is coming out the tail pipe and what the computer says the emission limits for the truck is.

i would not buy a stock carb. the factory holley 2 barrel carb that was used on most of the trucks was a bit too small for these engines so they not the best option. if it runs good as is i would not worry to much about changing the ignition system. the kit i posted a link to is just a 4pin ignition system which was used on a lot of dodge vehicles.

Its got a two barrel carter on it and its too small too.i put a kit in it and its running ok but i guess as far as getting rid of the smog pump and all the junk stuff and dressing up this engine goes, it seems like more trouble and expense thab its worth.that air cleaner is a monster and an eyesore but i guess im stuck with it.kinda wanted to fix this truck up as the body and paint job and interior are in exceptionally nice condition but the motor desires a lot..its got california emissions and its mindboggling

sounds like it has the stock carb on it. carter 2 barrel carbs were also used on some dodge trucks from the factory but were not as commonly used as Holley carbs. i guess if you don't have to do emission testing you could get rid of the emissions stuff but you may want to make sure you get your truck running right before you decide to throw any of it out because the emissions stuff is pretty hard to find for dodge vehicles if you decide if for some reason you need it.

Yea ive got it running pretty good now soi think ill leave it like it is for now until i do some research on how to get it back down to basics.i know the smog pump is about to go because i can hear it makin some noise. It also has some sort of forced air on the exhaust manifolds so and on the back side of thw heads so im probably better off leaving it like it is.at least its all original equipment so i guess thats a plus.the trucks in exceptionally good conditi, original paint job and no modifications anywhere.thank you for your input
