Default may paint truck

I am hoping to check some shops about painting my truck in a week or so. Truck is a 88 d 100 with a 3.9 manual. The paint has peeled off and has surface rust on it but no holes. It is silver with red inside. I have a extra set of chrome/black quarter hole wheels and thinking about using those with p235/75r15 Goodyear wrangler radial have 2 of those and get 2 more. I want to have the front end behind gill done in black and the back bumper in a different color of silver. I was wanting to sell the truck and get a 96-2002 Dodge 1500 but can't find what i want so that is why may paint. On the cat wiskers and door seals what kind an place to get and what to stay away from?

I cant remember where I bought mine, but I think I hit ebay quite a bit. I bought it all as a package, minus the front and rear windshield gaskets and vent windows. I had to buy those seperatly. If you decide to repaint, get some before and after pictures. I love seeing the progress.

If you have a one day paint and body there they do a great job even on their second level paint job. I am going to paint my 1991 W150 to MACHO colours, the off yellow (it's ugly *** blue right now bad bad paint job) and might have one day do the off yellow since the satin black I will do myself. Shoot, I may even paint the off yellow myself since after all the black goes on the yellow only covers about 25% of the rest of the truck!

The guy looked at it( he does this on the side). He told me it would be under $1500.00. Higher than i was hoping for. He is not even painting inside of the bed. I don't know what i will do. I know another guy who paints at his house on the side but may not be done in a week. I may just add some extra money and get a newer truck-Dodge ofcourse

I think if you shop around you may find a better deal. I found a guy that owns a body shop that told me he would paint my truck for $800, or if I do all the body work, (not much needs done), he would charge $400.
If you are fairly handy, I think you could paint it youself for less than you were quoted. I dont know if you have any paint experience, but its really not that hard. Hardest part is getting it clean enough and dust free enough to shoot.

Getting a fine finish isn't something everyone can do. It takes either a lot of practice, or a talent that few have. However, getting a finish that is GOOD ENOUGH is something a lot more people can do. I watched and assisted in body work and prep for a pro painter paint on probably 10~15 cars before I painted my own motorcycle. It came out like a nice custom job but I had watched everything he did from setting up the gun, to mixing the paint, and what distances he used and what speeds he used for layers. After you get that, and with good prep work, you can get a fine paint job. A lot has to do with temperature and such too.......

I talked to a guy that has his own shop and said he does not paint the whole car bc of time/money. He said if he did it would be $4000.00 to $5000.00. I was like you are nuts my truck is not worth that. Then i started thinking about the local college and take 1 or 2 auto body class and paint it myself. Have to talk to the wife and see

Or you might try watching auto painting videos on Youtube if there are any which I would think there are. I went there to see if anyone gave pinstriping lessons and they did.
