Burning rich
Every time I get out of my 92 Dakota, I can smell how rich my exhaust is.
I have replaced the o2 sensor, wires, plugs, distro and cap.
I have redone my intake manifold gaskets and phlem gasket.
I have run litres of injector cleaner through the truck.
I am getting 6km/litre on fuel.
I am sure that one of my sensors is causing the computer to keep a rich mix.
(Throttle body temp sensor OR coolant sensor?)
My heater core give me only warm air and my temp gauge never gets to the centre if that matters.
Or that one of my injectors is puking fuel.
Does this sound like I am on the right track?

You need to go after the water temp problem, maybe just a stuck open t-stat! It does matter!!

You need to go after the water temp problem, maybe just a stuck open t-stat! It does matter!!
Oh, I replaced the thermostat too.
I haven't had a chance to check for codes yet as my brother is borrowing my truck. I guess I just wanted to make sure I was on the right track.
I did some more reading last night and I can see that my coolant sensor can play into richness.
My radiator has seen better days too. I will replace the sensor and see if that helps first. At 265,000km, it has seen little love from its past owners.

i would check for code before wasting any money. if your engine is running below operating temp the computer will tell you that it is running too cold. a old rad should not hurt anything. if anything the old rad should help it hit operating temp quicker since it could be partially clogged. could possibly be a bad thermostat. the stock gauges are so inaccurate that you really need aftermarket gauges to tell you exactly what is going on in your engine. i figure i should also tell you there is 2 temp sensors. 1 for the computer and 1 for the temp gauge.
Weirdest thing happened when I checked the codes.
I didn't get the first 8/8 flashes. It went right to 5/5 END OF TEST.
What does that mean? Is the computer whack?
I am cleaning the MAP and IAC sensors today regardless and Have a coolant sensor coming in a couple of days (the one for the computer, not gauge). The injectors are the last resort but I would like to get some codes showing properly.
