Default Transmission Vacuum Modulator

My brother has an 1983? Ram with a 360. He just put a 4bbl edelbroak carb and intake on it. He is having problems with his transmission now. He can't find where to hook up his vacuum line to the transmission. I imagine he has the 727. Does anyone know where these modulators are??? He lives a few hours from me so I havent gotten a chance to take a look at it yet.

there is no Transmission Vacuum Modulator on any dodge transmission. there is only the kick down linkage. before he does any damage to the transmission you may want to make sure he has it connected. if it is not connected and he drives it around he will kill the transmission. the kickdown linkage is pretty much the same as a Transmission Vacuum Modulator. it control how where/when the transmission shifts.

Ok, that is kind of what I was wondering. He has that connected. He had a friend who is a ford mechanic install the carb. Could he have not adjusted this correctly? He said it basically shifts directly into 3rd as soon as he starts driving.

if the guy that installed it was a ford mechanic you may want to get your brother to look things over. sometimes i think you need to buy certain parts to make the kickdown work with the aftermarket carb. i think if the kickdown is miss adjusted it could cause things to shift too soon or too late.

if it had a 2 bbl carb first and you put on a 4 bbl and dont put ALL the linkage from a 4 bbl it can jam. may be locking the carb open.

Oh, that may be. So does he need to find a complete different linkage set up for a 4bbl?

i don't think he does. i think he may have to look at what is there and possibly grease it and make sure it is adjusted and moving properly. he may also want to make sure the spring that pull the kickdown linkage forward is there. it goes between the stud and throttle rod.
