we need more info like year the truck is. have you check the junkyards? most junkyardes usually punture or cut the tank to get the gas out so i doubt they would care if you cut the sending unit out and since i doubt they would give you much of a warrenty on a cheap rusty looking thing that comes out of the gas tank. only thing is you may have to kind of rebuild it. did you physically break yours or does your gas gauge just not work?

just because it looks nasty doesn't mean it don't work. with old trucks one of the biggest problems is bad connection. i know i have had my gas gauge quit working. just had reach for the wire on the sending unit and give it a small twist and gauge would start working again. if you have the sending unit out you can test it with a multi meter. i think with a empty tank you should have about 90 ohms resistance and when you have a full tank you should about 0 ohms resistance between the 2 terminals on the sending unit.

Mine is whacky too. BUT it does this....when FULL it reads EMPTY< but after about 20~30 miles of driving, it starts to read what MAY be accurate....till it gets down to about half a tank then it goes back and forth a little.
