I had a blow out on the pitman shaft seal on the power steering gearbox on my 93 D350 5.9l dually. Rebuilding it I pulled 22 ***** out of the worm gear, manual says there should be 24. Is this a different gearbox that is in the manual or did someone before me lose 2 and not put them back in? Anyone else run in to this problem before? I also have to replace the worn steering coupler, anyone know where to find one. I dont really want to replace the whole shaft.

 

I've never rebuilt my steering box, but I did find my coupler at NAPA for about $10. I know a lot of people will tell you to do the borgeson shaft, especially while you have it apart. It's supposed to be a vast improvement, but I've never experienced one myself.
