gurgleing and overflowing coolant reserve tank
hey so i just picked up my w150 with a 400 big block and when i drive it it gets hot but it doesnt say its hot according to the temputure gauge. and then when i turn truck off it gurgles and bubbles and starts to over flow and steeming. from what i read it could have been 2 things. i was told at first the cap was old needs to replaced so i did (it used to boil over from the cap then it replaced it now its from the reserve tank) and i was told it was the thermostate and i want to know were abouts is it on the 400 big block or whats easiest way to find it. i want to replace it myself
To find the thermostat:
1. Find the upper radiator hose.
2. Follow it to the engine block
3. Hose terminates in thermostat housing.
You could also have some sort of blockage in the radiator or heater core.
