Default Big Block Ram carb to hood clearance?

Anyone with a Big Block, can you measure how much space you have between the top of the carb to the bottom of the hood. Also include what intake manifold, carb and whether its a B or RB engine. Thanks.

Looks like that on my truck it's about 7 1/2 in from the very top of the carb to the hood, but it's hard to tell without shoving a midget under the hood and having him measure it.

From where the air cleaner sits, it's about 1/4 in lower on my carb.

Thanks. The reason I ask is that I'm tryin to figure out if a tunnel ram will fit under the hood, or If I have to run a hood scoop.

If I remember correctly, the tunnel ram is pretty tall and likely wouldn't fit unless you ran an absurdly thin air cleaner.

Depends on the tunnel ram but may I ask why you want to run a tunnel ram? I have a 426 wedge from 1963 (500hp+) on my 1974 Ramcharger and swapped from the dual quad cross ram to a single open plenum manifold. It was SOOOO much more street able. I I din;t loose enough power to speak of.

The dual quad cross ram is a nice looking manifold, but your right these days there are better manifolds out there.

But the tunnel ram is a slightly different animal compared to the cross ram. From what I have read the tunnel ram is still a good manifold and will produce good torque and it looks cool.
