Default another brake problem

Hi all

I have a 1995 dakota 3.9 - 5 speed - 2wd..

the front calipers are the originals and started hanging up so I bought new
calipers (a lot cheaper then I thought).....

got the right one off and the new one on no problems...

got the left one off... and started putting on the new one....

somehow I got one of the mounting bolts slighly cross threaded.... so I didnt force it and got out my trusty tap and die set out..

well I had nothing that matched the size and threads of the mounting bolt...

so I went to 6 different places looking for a tap to clean up the threads.....

no luck... it looks like its a 3/8" x 20, I matched up the threads with a thread
guage so I know its 20 threads per inch...

I thought it might be metric, nope an 8 is to small a 10 is to large, couldnt find a 9mm to test it on

the only 20 I know of is a 1/4" x 2 bolt size....

is this a dealer only type thing???

anyone know where I might be able to get a tap or thread chaser for this
wiierd size???

thanks
Jim

You should try the 1st gen Dakota forum. My truck doesn't even have caliper mounting bolts.

can you possibly put the bolt in the hole from the other side and fix the threads?
