1985 dodge d250 headlight problems

The head light switch? I already replaced the dimmer switch

ya. the headlight switch or the connector that connects to the headlight switch. could have a melted wire. you are really going to have to take things apart to find out.

The next step I was going to do was to replace that switch

i would take things apart and check the connector at the switch first. on rare occasions things sometimes get a bit hot and 1 wire may melt.
now if you do have to remove the switch you will have to release the light switch *** by pushing the button on the bottom of the switch in and pulling the *** out. the button on the bottom of the switch may be stiff.
