Default 4wd Stick

I have a 1982 ram, 4speed, 4x4, and I am having trouble with the shifter for my 4wd. When i am driving it will try to shift into 4wd and i cant get it to stop doing that. I have already tightened the linkages, but it still slips, should i change the whole thing out?

Hey there,
If u take it out, go through it and put it back in. Sounds like the linkage is slipping.
I believe it is just like a clutch. Out of adjustment? LMK....R.V.

i've heard of transmission slipping out of gear because of a bad syncro. the same thing might be able to happen to your t-case except it can only go from 2wd to 4wd. or like mentioned before it just might need adjusting, if its adjustable.

Have you tried draining the transfer case and refill? If you drain the case, check the oil for metal shavings.
