Default Air Filter for the 3.9 V6

I have gone through my new 91 D-150 with the 3.9 and its in great shape but none of the auto parts stores in my area (and I have to drive 35 minutes to get to town already) carry the air filter for it.

Any recommendations for on-line sources?

I just got the Dorman bushings for the wiper linkage and the only other issue is a sporadic radio. So far its a great truck and I like it a lot.

Check Rockauto.com

However, are you sure you have the stock air cleaner housing? Might have a different housing on it and you don't know it, you know?

rockauto has them. DD the 3.9's have a strange air filter that would look cool on any engine if you built a custom housing for it.

i have no clue.

i have wanted to build a custom open element air cleaner housing using one of those filters for a while. would make it look more like a 6 pack hiding under it.

Or even a dual carb Ford 289 or 302 for that matter.

Its the original oblong filter in the plastic housing with the damn clips all around it I cant reach without standing on a bucket! Autozone and Oreilly's didnt have it and couldnt get them apparently (both said they were no longer in their inventory system). I was thinking Rock Auto and will just go with that.

This was a truck used by the conservation department as a fire support vehicle so its been well maintained and has zero rust since it was always kept clean and stored inside.

Rubber floor mats - check
Vinyl seat in great shape - check
Manual windows and door locks that all work - check
No sagging doors - check
Smoothly operating tailgate - check
International Harvester Red "Fire Service" implement enamel paint job - check

Its actually a pretty cool little truck and I will post some pics when I get a chance tomorrow. The guy I bought it from was an old farmer who gets lots of equipment from government auctions in a nearby city and he said you would be amazed at some of the great stuff you can get cheap. I think I am going to have to check it out!
