Default is a high kift cam for a 91 d250 possible

i have a 1991 dodge truck with a non magnum, non roller 5.9 tbi la motor, was wondering what mods would it take to and a high lift cam, i herd the ecm would have to be reprogramed but i have a hard time believing this i had an 85 i hopped up only difference it was carbed, this 91 has a distributer not a coil pack, no crank timing sensors and has an adjustible dist, i was thinking of a mild loppy mid to medium cam , headers, and a single plain aluminum intake with a tbi addapter to keep the tbi and maybe upgrade the injectors, anybody ever try this on a 91????

Might as well try it. I have heard good things from those who have actually done it and bad things from those who haven't. You can't re-program the stock dumb computers in these trucks so it will have to be luck if it can adjust for the mods. But like I said, I have heard people have done it and got SOME added power out of it. You light be better off not doing a cam and do the rest plus a good true dual exhaust with a X pipe. Maybe even a hotter dizzy like a MSD billet or something and coil.

You will not be happy with the results the computer can not compensate for the new cam. You can install mild RV type cams but nothing to radical without either changing to a carburetor or aftermarket fuel injection.
