Default relocating?

Has anyone ever tried to relocate their gas tank? Or even replace it with something "custom" or repurposed?

It would depend on why you want to do it but it wouldnt be hard to use a fuel cell in the bed of the truck or retrofit one of the larger capacity aftermarket tanks. Why are you looking to relocate it, weight transfer?

I wish it was for weight transfer or something noble. Recently had the Cu de Grais of tweak ears try to syphon my gas. After destroying my gas cap, then my filler neck, he must of decided to puncture my tank for me. I replaced it with a stock one but have been considering changing it out.

would putting one back where the spare tire goes be a bad idea? would I be running the chance of blowing up like a Pinto? Maybe an irregular shaped METAL one in the same place? I like the idea of putting one up in the bed, but it would be even more exposed, and bed space is reduced.

have you ever heard of a ramcharger blowing up? the gas tank on a ramcharger is behind the bumper and the ramcharger bumpers have less to them than the truck bumpers.

stock tanks are plastic. the sending unit from 91-93 i think is the same so you would have to find one of those. you might also have to get the cross members that are used to hold the gas tank up.
