I have a dodge that i dont like the wheels that are on it can i get the wheels off of a newer truck to put on it its a 1/2 ton
If it's an '84, the wheels should have a 5 x 4.5" bolt pattern. Wheels from an '85 to '93 will not fit, since they have the larger 5 x 5.5" pattern. I'm not sure about '94 and up Rams.
I think you're going to be limited to pre-'85 stock wheels and anything aftermarket with the correct bolt pattern, backspacing and offset.
if your a 4wd or have heavier 2wd you should have the big bolt pattern, the big bolt 5 on 5.5, 94-01 wheels will bolt up, ive seen 3 or 4 with the newer chome wheels, the small bolt pattern 5 on 4.5 was offered for all 1st gen rams for lighter 2wds, if you have this pattern the newer wheels wont bolt up

I didn't mention this, as I assumed the truck in question was a 2WD. But you are correct, the W-series would have the bigger bolt pattern.
