i am working on a 1975 dodge 1/2 ton pu 2 wheel dr with a 318 with an auto transmission and on the side the old one has a sensor on the side with 2 wire prongs and the new one has a 3 prong i was told it was for a lock or unlock in the trans. can i just change that sensor and be ok or is the trans. different on the inside? thanks n.m.

 

Get the right one, I think that is the neutral safety switch. Keeps you from starting the truck unless you are in park or neutral.
