Help!!!
Okay, so got a 1989 dodge ram charger about a week ago and it ran fine except when cold which i assume is normal for old trucks, but about two days ago it started dieing while running and i changed out the fuel filter and cut off the catalytic converter and got better but now itll try to die and then as soon as i hit 20mph it guns it and runs fine at speeds higher than that. So what could possibly be wrong??
bad injectors, weak fuel pump, crappy gas, TPS, IAC, start by tearin your throttle body apart so you can see the jets spray, start it up and whatch the spray, if its not a fine ,ist cone you have a clogged injector and theres your problem... let me know after you do that
Turn the key on ,off ,on ,off ,on within 5 seconds.
The check engine light will flash. Count the number of flashes.
5 flashes pause 5 more is code 55. That's the end of test.
Anything else may indicate a problem.

I'm not a mechanic but have had the dubious pleasure of owning a lot of old vehicles. Generally when old vehicles act up I do cap rotor, plugs and wires, oil change to make sure all that is in good shape. In your case I would also run a bottle of Seafoam through the gas tank to clean the injectors or simply rebuild or replace them. Eventually if I cannot fix it I take it to a mechanic for diagnosis. After that I decide if I want to try to fix it or pay them to do it.
