Default Convert 1st gen to power windows.

My driver's side manual regulator is dying and rather than replace it, I am going to upgrade. I may just get a complete set of doors off of a factory power window truck, but I would rather use my original doors. Does anyone know if the 80-91 power window regulators use the same bolt holes as the manual regulators? My doors are of '78 vintage, and I'm guessing Dodge didn't redesign the inside sheet metal of the door just to accommodate newer regulators. Anyone verify this? Have pics of their power window regulators? Installed or otherwise? Thanks!

I cant help you there but man I dont think the move to power windows is an upgrade personally. I hate the power windows on two of my D-150s and much prefer the manuals on the third one.

Wanna trade? Ill buy you a new regulator to replace my bad one, and you can have the good one from the other side, if I can have your power regulators/motors.

I don't have any pics of installed and I can't remember the 78 doors you have but here is a wish list bookmark of mine http://www.andysautosport.com/dodge/...c00000574.html
and I think you'll be able to search the site for what you need. I'm pretty sire there were other sites with the manual to elec window options.

Thanks for the link! I wonder how heavy duty those really are? Anyone ever use them?

These may not work out of box, but you may be able to make them work.

Ha, thats why I hate them. My 86 just had the drivers side stop working and my 90 I have the drivers side work usually and then it will just stop for some reason only to resurrect itself the next time I drive it. My 91 with manual regulators just works everytime with no issues. I will confess though that I havent really tore into them to check things out.

fair as I have looked into it myself, without some work you cant simply bolt in the power regulators. LMC truck is selling a kit now the change them.
