Default Air injection heads

I've got a set of these heads from an older built 360 I bought cheap (mainly for the LD340 intake). They have dual valve springs are nice and straight, and the valves and guides check out fine. I've read about tapping the air injection holes and using set screws to block them. That seems overly time consuming. Can't a guy just weld the holes shut? Then no problems with potential leaks ever.

You could weld them, then grind them flat but it only takes about 30-40 minutes to tap and plug the holes. I'd venture to say you would spend that much if not more cleaning, welding, then grinding flat.

True, but I live in a small town well beyond nowhere. No hardware store here, so I'd have to order them online and wait. I'm not so good at waiting....
