Default 318 Magnum

Hello, I am thinking about swap a magnum 318 out of a 95 dodge pickup or is there a better year to look for. What all will I need to make this swap work? . Also I will be useing my 727 transmission. I just had this rebuilt. Any info will be greatly appreciate.

Plus harness factory harness is about shot all hack up past owner. Looking at painless harness replace whole truck.

Current setup. Holly 600.Intake,
Aluminum 2 core radiator.

Future mods with magnum engine. Like to get nice exhaust. Which is better long tube or shortys? For 318. Dual exhaust?

Current setup.

Ive been doing research on doing the same (318 or 360 magnum) into my 91 d150. From what I've read it seems like it will be way easier if you find a 318 out of a 92-93 dodge truck rather than the gen II body style. The wiring harness will be plug and play with our trucks from what i read. If your good with wiring then ignore this however as those motors will work too.

What do you think about using a 360 block?

The Magnum engine used a Crankshaft position sensor on the back side of the engine block on the passenger side. You'll have to but a notch in your 727 transmission to accommodate that sensor.

With some mods it can be done! I would look for a motor/parts from a 96 on up. They are easily available (OBD2). Swap the motor and trans together. This way you will have overdrive! The earlier versions of the fuel injection(throttle body) and transmissions had some issues. I had a similar idea of swapping a complete drive train(frame, motor, axles) and putting it under my 78 power wagon body.
