Default ? magnum 5.9 manual transmission

I have a question for those who have put a 5.9 magnum in front of a first gen . manual transmission.
Did you use the 1st gen. clutch kit? Reading parts books, it appears the 1st gen. used a 11in. 23spline 1in. dia shaft. The newer magnum is 11in. 1.125 dia. shaft, and 10 spline.
If not, what combo. did you use to mate the two together.
Thanks for your help.

I was really hoping to hear from someone who has put a magnum in front of a manual transmission. Find several post concerning automatics.

The spline and dimeter come from the input shaft on the trans so you'd be fine with the first gen since the clutch diameters are the same. But you need to check the pilot bearing on the first gen. For the magnum it's .75.

Ham Bone Thanks for your reply. If I do the swap, I will need to check the dia. of the shaft to see if it is .75 as well or if not, maybe the outside is the same between a magnum and the LA and then I could use the LA pilot bearing.
