Just looking for some advice. I'm a college student who wants to swap a 3.9l V6 engine with a 3 speed auto trans and upgrade to a V8 of some sorts. It's my first engine swap of an older vehicle and I don't know what to look for. I would be willing to replace the transmission if needed but I'm looking for a used V8 does anyone have any suggestions?

Yes it runs very well no issues I just want a bigger engine.

 

If I was you I would look out for a cheap parts truck and pull the motor a 318 would do good in a half ton. Good power and decent on fuel. Probably will have to do the tranny too..... Might be easier to just look for another rig... But If you are set on it. Find a cheap rig, pull the motor rebuild it and throw it in.

 

Put a 5.7 hemi in it! Best bang for your buck is a 360 magnum......... A relatively easy swap as long as you know wiring basics. Be prepared to guzzle fuel tho
