Default A518 with 47rh 4x4

Okay so I have a question on this subject. Another 1st gen Dodge guy that put a 2nd gen front axle under his truck. And he also needs help on this subject. I have another project Cummins and I am also using the A518. So we were wondering is it possible to convert the A518 into 4x4? Replacing the 2WD tail section with the 4wd OD section from the 47rh I hear there are tons of writeups about it? Am I searching in the wrong place cause I haven't seen any? Asked the facebook forum and they really didn't give me a link. What all would have to be changed? Output shaft? Is much more work than its worth? My A518 is fresh rebuilt and I would like to re use it. Thanks!

They A518 was used in 4x4 applications - my '92 RC has one. It can't be THAT hard to convert!

Okay cool, Yeah I was looking on ebay and saw some A518 4x4 overdrive unit I think only 1 it was for 91 -95 dodge thats about to sell. The others ive seen are for 46re's but say A518 next to it. My last question will it matter if I use a 46re overdrive 4x4? or does it have to be only RH's? Thanks!

What side drop is your axle? As long as it matches THAT, you should be GTG.
