im curious about swapping my rear end. i have 3.55 gears now its a 01 1500 4x4 i really want to put bigger gears cuz im limited to just four of my gears bc i am running 38x12.5s. but i dont have the money for those gears every where i have looked they are super expensive. is there any other dodges that i can look for with bigger gears that will bolt up to my truck?

38's on the stock axles is asking for trouble. They simply aren't designed to deal with tires that large, on a truck as heavy as the dodge. (and yes, I know, the jeep guys 'do it all the time', but, the jeep doesn't weight north of 5000 pounds either.)
The Off Road edition trucks (00-01) came stock with 4.10 gears, and reinforced axles. Finding a set will be fun though, as they seem to be rare as hens teeth. But, even then, 4.10s with 38's is still not going to be enough. You really need 4.56, or even 4.88 gears..... The alternative would be to install smaller tires...... 33's are as large as I would go with 3.55's.
