Cummins swap into 84 dodge d350 prospector
Hey guys looking for some tips! Starting my first project here, I own a 1984 dodge d350 4 door dually, I purchased it with a (what I believe is a 360) and I want to put a Cummins in it, I have another Truck that I am looking to buy that is a 1991 dodge w250 with a Cummins in it. I want to stay with two wheel drive so I know I'll need a 2wd tranny but it's an auto now and I'm looking to put a manual in. Just throwing this stuff out there to see if anyone has any input and or advice on how to go about my project and how hard it's going to be!

The actual parts go together like lego. At least thats what I'm finding with my '84 Ramcharger cummins swap.
IMO, if you want a manual trans, you should keep looking for a 5spd cummins donor truck. Reason being, it's getting rather difficult to find the individual pieces. OTOH, that donor you found has everything you need to build a complete 4wd truck.
If you keep it dually, you'll have to address the axle ratio. 4.56 and 4.10 tend to be too low. 3.55 is nice with a 5spd. The 727 auto (non-OD) uses 3.07, which has unique axle housings.
Hope that helps.
