84 dodge power ram 4x4 3.55 rear

Default 84 dodge power ram 4x4 3.55 rear

I have a 1984 dodge power ram w150 custom the rear end is shut i was wondering what year dodges are the same so i can just swap it out

Could be a 8.25" or 9.25" axle. 3.21 and 3.55 are both common ratios. You want to look at 81-93 4x4s and 85-93 2wds to get the right wheel bolt pattern (5x5.5")

Can you swap disck brake axles for drum brake axles ?

The '94+ ram diffs are ~5" wider. I know spring spacing is the same on a 2ndgen (94-02). I think the first disc brake rear axle is 2001.

Do you know what years are the same ratio as 84 ?

There's usually at least two ratios available regardless of year. Here's the ratios I've had on other 1/2-tons...
- 84 ramcharger 2wd (auto) 3.21
- 88 D150 2.76 (auto)
- 90 ramcharger 4x4 (auto) 3.55
- 96 ram1500 4x4 (5spd) 3.55

Only way to tell is to actually check possible donor rears . No easier way . there are always options each year .
