i'm trying to figure out the rearend ratio on a D150 2x4 8 1/2 inch differential

Default i'm trying to figure out the rearend ratio on a D150 2x4 8 1/2 inch differential

!981 D150 2x4 "Miser"
It has two tags on the differential one says "35" the other says "2610"

35 might be 3.55 gears but best way to tell is to either pull the over and change the fluid or hooking up a tach. if you got 3.21 gears the engine will run at about 2000rpm at 50mph or 2000rpm at 45mph with an automatic slush box. if the truck is a standard it most likely has 3.21 gears. stardard trucks are always geared like that.

-you could remove the pan cover and count the crown and pinion teeth
-you could raise the rear end, spin the tires 1 revolution and count the turns of the driveshaft
-dealer build sheet; call the parts dept and provide your vin. Call fca corporate and they can email you a build sheet.
-try the vin decoder in the tools section

If you are taking the cover off just look on the side of the ring gear, It should say what it is.

The '88 D150 I wrecked out had 2.76. Was a 318/auto longbed.
