Mine has a few carb issues, but I have the same problem. 15in rims with 33’s doesn’t help, but I am curious as to what the experienced members find to be best.
I head the Edelbrock carbs fall out of adjustment easily from a coworker, “temp changes ruin its tuning”
so what’s the best loadout for reliability?
with the way fuel is today i would recommend looking into fuel injecting it. no point replacing a carb with another carb unless you are familiar with them and know how to rebuild and tune them. fuel injection will run the engine as needed with no need for tuning and they are becoming very affordable
Is there a diy thread available? How about complete kits? I guess salvage yards might have the whole system. Is this a good route affordability wise? Any precautions?

I'm not a fan of the aftermarket efi systems. If the price was less then $500 then maybe. Holley carbs are the simplest to use and run well straight out of the box. Only two adjusting screws!
if your good with wiring and scavenging you can possibly put together a cheap TBI setup using gm parts which are a bit more common. fitech would be another option if you want something that would be pretty easy and straight forward to instal and super simple as far as tuning and keeping it tuned it would be a good option. it even has cool features like being able to control electric fans if you would like to install some in the future. you would also likely see better performance and fuel economy compared to carb especially since you would have to get the carb dialed in for your specific need. i know my 89 with factory TBI is way better on fuel while turning 33's than my 81 is turning the stock 29" tires.
you can read the instruction on summits website. i think there is only 4-5 wires you need to hook up depending on how you want to wire things and then the rest is plug and play.
