Column-Shift To Floor-Shift Conversion
I have an 84 D150 with the 318 c.i.d. V8 and the three-speed column-shift auto. How hard is it to convert the column-shift to a Hurst Pro-Matic truck floor-shifter (Model #383-8510) and what is the easiest way to do it?
I'm not sure how you would go about it, but I always thought it would be neat to put a center console out of a car or something with the floor shifter in it in a truck. call me crazy lol.
The entire tranny would need to be swapped out for something aftermarket. Its pretty in depth. I dont know much about our trucks yet, but from what I do know is that you'd need a new tranny all together. One made to shift through a floorpan.
Edit: Jesus Christ, way to necro-post Jamie... I didnt realize this was from last December. ~_~;

Some trannys are cable driven, others use shafts and ****. I dunno what this one uses but it could be simple, but I seriously doubt it or more people would have done it already.
The 727 is lever actuated. I guess my last post in here timed out and didn't take - I'm pretty sure there are floor shift cars with the same tranny. I could be wrong, but I just have a feeling that it's not too terribly difficult.
