Default 84 D-150 Engine Swap

Has anybody in here put in a new gen engine (5.7L, 6.1L, or 6.4L) in their D-body truck? Found a 6.1L with low miles on it, but I'm trying to figure out how much work, time, & money I will be in if I start down this path. If you have any advice please feel free to share. Thank you

i haven't but seen a few people who have. they make adapter kits to bolt one to a 727/904 if you decided to go that route but if your going to go with a new engine minus well go with a new transmission. the extra gears would help it get better fuel mileage. the hardest part would probably be the wiring and making everything work together. you can buy a hotwire harness but generally they are not cheap.

I wouldn't bother. Plenty can be done to the older engines, the newest I'd want would be a Magnum and then I'd stay carbureted.
