HELP!? Need advice on converting my 92 d350 to 4x4
I have a 92 D350 one ton with a Dana 60 5speed with 3.54 gears .8 lug My truck is a welding rig and weighs 9400 lbs. I want to convert to 4x4 so I have a beefier front end and the usage is a given so what are my options? Am I stuck finding a 89-93 off a first gen or what !?

I’m a fabricator so I can handle moving **** around but I’m not a mechanic and don’t know my options. Since you are going to have to do fab work anyway, just depends on how much work ya wanna do. 93 and older were leaf spring, weren't they? 94 and up were mulit-link. I really don't think it is any more work, no matter which way you slice it. Were the older trucks drivers side drop on the t-case as well?

unless you absolutely need 4x4 you are probably better off to keep it 2wd. you do almost need a complete parts truck to do the swap or you will end up spending a fortune on axles/steering/transmission/transfercase. plus converting it to 4x4 will also lift the truck which make lifting things into the back suck. i know i helped lift my buddies work truck that is 4x4 and he smartened up and bought a 2wd work truck last summer since lifting things into the back of his truck was a nightmare.
