Default Starter swap

I have two dodges a 85 dodge 318 and a 98 dodge 318. The motor is blown in my 98 and the starter in my 85 is gone. Question is? Can I put the starter from my 98 into my 85?

yes it will work. there is a chance you might need to use the starter wires from the 98 but you will find out pretty quick. the 98 starter will go into your 85 quicker than you will get the starter out of the 85

Do you have power at the fat cable at the starter? If you do, next, need to see if the solenoid gets power when you turn the key. (my guess is: No.) Manual or auto trans?
