Default Vin/option decoder

Hi. Is there a link to decoding the actual vechile factory options/equipment. The typical VIN decoders give only very basic information. I have an '89 Ramcharger & an '87 Ramcharger. The plastic covered factory option underhood stickers are very faded, & difficult to read. Ty

Put the VINs in this link:
https://www.chrysler.com/webselfserv...ME36C1PS176298
It won't give you the option codes but it's pretty good.

About 20 years ago when I had a job with the perk of being able to buy automotive salvage.... I would look for 1stgen cummins trucks going thru, and call the dealer with the VIN for build info. No dice. They couldn't even tell me what transmission, axle, or axle ratio. All they could do was breakdown the VIN digit by digit like the online tools.

Unless they've had an IT breakthrough of some kind, that's probably still the case.

Chrysler Corporate has the ability to pull build sheets for older vehicles. I think it needs to be 98 or newer to get it directly online, (though I have had it work with 96, and 97 trucks.....)

i am pretty sure it only works for the 88 and newer dodges and even then some things are sometimes a bit wonky like my 89 and the 4-Spd. Automatic 36RH Transmission lol. it would be a 46RH if it was a 4 speed auto.

And lets not forget the 'power rack and pinion steering'......... I keep looking for that on my second gens, but, just can't seem to find it, even though Dodge tells me it's what I have.

yup. you almost need to take the info with a grain of salt but for the most part they do have most of the correct info you would need.
