Default 85 D150 rear Non-step bumper

I want to replace the old rear step bumper on my 1985 D150 with a sleek Non-step chrome rear bumper. I heard a 80's van bumper will work but don't know what years exactly. I also found this from LMC http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/dc/full.aspx?Page=47 but not sure it's a direct fit or if I have to modify the brackets. Anyone know an easy/cheap way to replace the step bumper with a nice small chrome rear bumper? Or has anyone used the bumper in the link above?

if you have brackets for it they those bumpers just bolt on. the guys on RCC have been pretty happy with them especially since those style bumpers were nearly impossible to find before LMC started making them.

Will the brackets from my stock step bumper work? Can they be modified? or can I buy the correct brackets somewhere (what year brackets).

I also found this article while searching https://www.hotrod.com/articles/neve...little-easier/ Maybe it will help someone else looking to do this swap.

no you would have to make your own or find some. you are more likely to find them on a ramcharger.

sucks that they used the newer style ramcharger bumper instead of the older style one. the older style one i believe is the same style one that they used on the LRE and in my opinion looks way better than the new bumpers which got fat and not look as good.

The LMC rear bumper came in today....quality is very nice, heavy, feels like it is well made, finish is pretty good, not show quality but nice. The how to link in the above post is very helpful BUT leaves out one very important step. You must remove the bumper brackets, switch them driver and passenger sides, and flip them upside down. The article says nothing about this anywhere, I just happen to notice it while looking at the picture. After that is done it pretty easy, maybe an hour to hour and a half work. I welded my made brackets on, but if you don't have a welder you could easily bolt the brackets into place too. I hope this helps someone else looking to swap out the step bumper!
