Default 1984 B250 juddering

My 1984 B250 seems to judder quite hard occasionally.

It doesn't always happen, seems as likely to happen on a hill or on the flat.

It feels like a brake judder, but I don't think that's it - I don't seem to be able to change it by stepping on the brake.

It normally gets better after a few minutes. My passenger can feel something vibrating beneath the footwell when it's at its loudest.

No other problems as far as I can see.

Any ideas?

Does the van slow down when it acts up? Do you feel anything in the steering? The first thing I would do is have a front end shop check the front end. Th local Forestone shops will check a vehicle from bumper to bumper fro $50-75. They will tell you about failing hoses, burned out bulb worn brakes and so on. I can do that myself but it's worth it to me to have them do it and I can repair it myself.

My gut feeling is possibly the idler arm going bad on your front suspension. It doesn't have a fluid supply so it doesn't leak. You can check it yourself by jacking the van up and see if it will wiggle up and down. It holds your steering gear steady and can really rattle your teeth.
