Default What will work 🤔

I recently changed motors from a 94 b250 dodge van 5.2 to my Dodge Ram 99 1500 5.2 v8 (head gaskets were blown) my question is should I have kept the computer from the b250 or can I flash my ram truck computer to that motor ? I’m having serious problems codes are coming up from the last motor please help

Engines should be pretty much the same. Intake will be different, no egr, and only one temp sensor on the 99.

What codes are coming up?

Crank shaft sensor that motor does not have a crank shaft sensor. I’m using my old computer from the truck so I was thinking either buy a new one or send it in for flashing

Both motors use a crank sensor...... they are even in the same place...

Which vehicle did which motor go into?

The 94 b250 motor went into my 99 Dodge Ram 1500 2wd my original motor over heated so this guy told me that b259 5.2 was the same motor he swapped everything and it looks good looks right now it just won’t stay cranked it will idol fine so first he said it was the injectors spraying to much fuel on the plugs now it’s the computer is telling the motor to do something else my truck really was in mint condition until now

Which intake manifold did he use? The older manifold will have EGR on it, also, the pre-96 trucks ran lower fuel pressure, so, there may be a difference in injectors as well.

what codes are popping up if it isn't running correctly. i would wonder if the crank position sensor got damaged in the engine swap because it was likely still attached to the engine when it was pulled and easily overlooked and damaged.

i don't think fuel pressure would have made any difference to the injectors. the computer can compensate fuel injected based on o2 readings.
