Default 318 to cummins swap??

Has anyone ever swapped from a 318 or 360 to a 5.9 cummins. I want to do this swap because I found a really good deal on a Cummins engine with the transmission. This is something I have always thought why do this when you can just go find the same truck with the cummins in it but what’s the fun in that. If anyone has ever done this can you provide me with some tips or a guide on how to do this and what all I will need including fuel tank and fuel pump and will my gauge work right if I do this swap or is it even worth the hassle

what is is out of and what are you putting it in? gauges should be least of your worries since they are easy to make work and suck at what they do most of the time lol.

I have a d100 so it’s 2wd and I’m not for sure why the cummins came out of all it says is 92’ Dodge Ram cummins engine I messaged him but there is no tell in when he will reply back if it’s from a 3/4 to it shouldn’t matter should it? I know it will if it’s out of a 4x4

will most likely be too heavy for the trucks front end. they only put cummins in 3/4ton or heavier trucks but you definitely want to know if it is 2wd or 4x4 trans

I just looked at the trans and it’s 2wd and I will be putting heavier and taller front springs on my front end and extended shocks on it I will also be putting a 3” body lift and an add a leaf kit on the rear end do you thing the springs will make it a better ride?

taller spring wont help deal with the extra 700lbs in the front end. on top of that the 88 frame may not be strong enough to deal with the torque.
