Default 88 w150 360 running on 4-8 psi oil pressure, anybody else ever experienced this

I don’t have the truck anymore unfortunately but I drove it for a few years, the owner before me rode her hard and put it up wet, truck didn’t have reverse, transfer case was blown up when I got it, previous owner had replaced brake likes and put them on wrong leaving me with no brakes one day (called me day after I paid for the truck and said “if the brakes stop working just add some fluid”) so not a perfect truck, but not a bad truck at all, it was my second truck after I totaled my 95 Dakota, I loved that ram, the truck wasn’t very powerful, the la engines are just like that (was kinda comical having a quadrajet on a 130 hp engine)

but I’ve painted enough of a picture my question here is the oil pressure gauge in the truck when I got it I believe always read somewhat right (around middle of the gauge) but after I had it for a short time it seemed to stop working and sometimes when i was idling or slowing down to stop the oil pressure light would come on, which if I remember right trips at 4psi or below, I remember thinking that it just just be a sensor because how else would the truck be running and not knocking at all if it had 4psi, so eventually I buy a mechanical gauge. And low and behold the truck is running on a max of around I think 5-8 psi for the oil pressure when the idiot light came on it was in fact dropping to around 4 psi or below.

I drove it like that for a long time, eventually I sold the truck it needed more work and time put into it then i had by a long shot at that point in my life, but it always below be away how it ran so good with virtually no oil pressure, no knocking nothing, never had any mechanical problems out of the engine besides replacing some gaskets

Sludge can clog up the pickup and starve the pump from getting oil. Or the oil pressure port was clogged up.
