Harmonic Balancer rubbing timing cover
Hey brothers of Mopar Blood...
Had a leaking timing cover gasket, with 490k on the original 318 (very proud of it) I pulled the front of the motor off, ordered a new timing chain and gears from Cloyles, put it on. While putting the timing cover on, I broke the bottom corner tab on the aluminum cover. Ordered a new timing cover from Mancini Racing (highly recommended to me), put the new cover on and water pump, torqued both covers down to specs, here is the problem... I put the harmonic balancer on, bottomed it out like should be done and it is making big time contact with the timing mark prominence on the timing cover. What the hell???
I measured the timing marks of both covers and the Mancini cover is a good 1/4 inch taller, thus causing the contact. Is there anyway the harmonic balancer is funky??? The motor runs like a sewing machine.
please advise. Thanks guys.

There where slight variations with the covers over the years, You may need to get either another cover or balencer. Or just cut the part that is causing the rubbing. You should have just got another good used one. Anything Mancini sells is overpriced.
