Unhappy Searching for my Grandpa's 1985 Dodge D150/W150

My Grandfather passed away about 2 1/2 years ago and he owned a 1985 Dodge Ram D150 or W150 that his dad bought him. when he passed away my aunt and uncle took the truck and since then we have not heard or been able to figure out where it is or what happened to it. I have asked my uncle what happen to it and he said he took it to a salvage yard. I called every salvage yard in a 25-mile radius of my uncle's house and my grandfather's house and they have told me they do not have it or have not documentation of it being there. I am a Texas boy trying to get his first truck and find this truck that has been in the family since it coming off the assembly line. I am reaching out to yall to help me or give me advice on how to find this truck. below I have provided some information on it. I have also included the most recent pictures (2012) of the truck. I have run out of ideas, please help me.

So who did the title change in 2019??? If it was a salvage yard, it's probably been scrapped...... Not sure if any of the government agencies are going to be willing to give out information though......

I doubt anybody would get a title to scrap it. When I ran a salvage yard, I would take the titles to crushed cars to the BMV and turn them in as scrapped. The title would then be removed. Since the vehicle didn't exist, the title would follow.

Gotta agree with ya there. No point in transferring a title if you are just going to scrap it...... But, someone transferred the title. Trouble is, I don't think the DMV, (or, whatever agency is called there...) would be interested in handing out that information. I suspect that they can't...... against some law or other.

I don't fully know if it was scrapped because I called every scrap yard in the area and all of them but one said they do not have any record of it being there so if the title was changed, they would have to have some sort of record of it. as for the one yard that said they do not know, I'm going to go to the yard sometime soon to see if it's there. I did call the local tax office to see if I could get any info on it and they said they legally can not give any info without proof of it being a salvage.

because I don't own it and I don't have a copy of the old title, texas won't let you get any info on the current owner or title info.

If you got a police officer friend ask him how he’d look for it, or am insurance agent friend, sometimes they have access to DMV information.
if they titled it in 2019 it’s still out there

Long shot but you may try carfax.
It may give you a service station etc that did an inspection etc.

Will your uncle not tell you which junkyard he took it too?
