Default Quick thought on EGT and Manifold temps...

So, while installing a tach I was futzing around earlier and for giggles I check manifold temps. Passenger sides about 45-50° colder then driver side at normal operating temp.

should I bother adjusting the mix screws to try and get them within 5-10°? Or am I just being to OCD?

If your temps were reversed, I'd suspect the exhaust manifold heat control valve was binding. Regardless, I don't believe it has anything to do with the carburetor; theoretically one side of carb feeds two cylinders on each side.

See if you can pinpoint if one part of the manifold is cooler than the rest - check that all of your plugs are firing.

I check manifold temps
How did you do this with a Infrared thermometer? And if so where exactly did you take the reading?

fair point, next time I drive it I’ll check it immediately when I park and have exacts.

Measurements were taken with an infrared at 6-8 inches straight on from the sides. At a 45° downward angle. And I made sure to get the laser indicator between the heat sink ribs.

I know that the infrareds can be inconsistent as is which is why I shot it from the same position 3-4 times and used an average.

without remembering EXACT numbers, it played out like,
1 3 5 7
395 415 415 390

2 4 6 8
340 375 370 340

And if you need exacts like mentioned above, I can check then as soon as I park with it still running when I get to side job I’m doin.
