I have a spare set of 2014 Ram 20x9 aluminum wheels. I wouldn't mind using those for my 1991 D150 instead of the 15x10 wheels I have now.
Things I know/ plan on doing:
- 1.5" spacers needed. Preferably steel hub centric.
- Upgrade to 9/16" studs recommended. Not needed but recommend.
- 275/40R20 or 315/35R20 tires. Leaning more towards 275/40 for cost reasons.
- Van LCA
- Rear axle flip
- Still researching the correct 9/16" lug studs to use. I don't have a part number yet.
Questions:
- What has been the max tire diameter on a lowered D150 with van LCA and only an axle flip?
- What steel hub centric spacers have been used with good results?
- Should I stick with steel wheel spacers even though this won't be a drag truck? The D150 will be a pavement princess.
- Does anyone have photos of a D150 with 20" 4th gen ram wheels? All I have seen are off the 2500 and 3500 trucks. I haven't seen 5x5.5 wheels swapped over yet.
These are the type of wheels I have, but will be using a lower profile tire:
I've not had any problems with alum spacers on my dodge or Jeep. Although, would think twice though on the rear of a truck that carries high payloads. 9/16" would be a good upgrade.
Hub-centric is in conflict with tapered seat lugnuts. That style nuts makes it lug-centric automatically.
