1991 Power Ram 360TBI. RPM Questions
1991 Power Ram 360TBI. 4 Speed Manual W/Granny Gear
First post. I just installed a tachometer in my truck. (It is reading correctly)What is the Power band on the engines?
What are my shift points (optimally)?
If I want to let it rip what should I be hitting as far as RPMs?
Thanks you for the feed back. I will post my truck with pictures and upgrades if anyone is interested.
i would say most shifting is likely going to be done in the 2-3000rpm range. most stock cams don't really start building power till about 2000rpm. you might need later shifting on hills or hauling a load or early shifting if your driving like a old man.
are you changing it to a race truck?
That TBI was the worst fuel system Chrysler ever utilized. by 91 they were finally "getting better" but they still sucked. I've fought many of them.
One, an 88 D100 I had witha 318 never threw codes, seemed to run ok but I could never get more than 8MPG out of it, at a steady 70mph with a 50 mph tailwind straight highway run of several hundred miles on flat Illinois roads I got 12 out of it. Once. and that is far from my only fight with that system. My son's 89 Ramcharger (that now runs a carb because of that blasted setup) my son's 90 W250, my 88 B250 van, and countless others who have brought me theirs to work on, back in the day that those systems were current production.
