Hi all. Per the title, not getting spark at the plugs. plug wires seem to pass visual inspection, spark plugs are brand new (autolite 65 platinum), and under the distributor cap the rotor spins on crank. tried to start with fuel in the carb, then tried with starter fluid. Im pretty new to all this so not sure where to go from here. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Thanks,

One weak point in these ignitions was the ballast resistor. It's a white porcelain piece with an electrical connection on each end. It's purpose is to drop the 12 volts to 6 volts for the ignition to work. Guys would carry an extra one wrapped up in a paper towel in their tool boxes. You can jump across it with a piece of wire for a short period to see if it's the problem. I've seen them on the firewall and inner fender.

There are other things it could be like a bad brain box, but I'd check the resistor first. They get pretty hot at times and are the most common, as well as cheapest, failure point.
