Default 3.9L Exhaust Manifold Studs

Are the studs on the 3.9 for the exhaust manifold welded on, or are they threaded on, i was able to get them off of the driver side, but i cannot seem to get it off of the passenger side, and the nut snapped off with part of the stud in it, so i cannot reuse the stud.

They thread into the head..... they do like to rust up though, and break.

I'm considering headers, are they worth the effort to remove the studs? I have one stud broken on the passenger side manifold, most forward stud, but no noticeable leak yet. I need new exhaust for sure, considering headers before I have a whole new exhaust installed.

If you have one broke, the rest aren't too far behind. And if you have to take them off anyway, upgrading really isn't a bad plan.
