4spd to auto swap. What all do I need?
Hello everyone I recently bought a 85 w100 318 4spd about a month ago with plans to get it running and use it as needed because my family needed another 4x4 since my 92 w350 is down currently, Since purchasing it, my brother has decided to buy it from me but he has asked me to convert it to an auto first. I have found what I believe to be a 84 w150 at a local junkyard and it appears to be complete. What all will I need from it to do the swap?
I went today and talked to the guy who owns the junkyard and he wants $475 for the Transmission, Tcase, Linkages, Tranny crossmember, Driveshafts(both single cab long beds), and Steering column with them pulling everything for me.
Will I need anything else from it? The truck I have has auto locking hubs and the donor truck has locking hubs, will that matter? Also what about the PCM and wiring harness? Can I just bypass the neutral switch or run wiring to it and will the 4spd PCM work?

Trust me I'm right there with you, if its going to go one way or the other vehicles should be swapped auto to standard not the other way around. My w350 is a factory 5spd and I would never be willing to put an auto in it but i know this truck isnt going to be mine for more than a year at most and my little brother is going to end up with it and auto swapping it anyway so its not a matter of 'if' but when it happens to this truck. Plus I really kind of need the money right now to finish my truck up and he is paying for the parts and offering to buy it from me as soon as it's done so I am having to shift gears and get to working on that since it's looking like that's what I'm gonna have to do to get my truck back on the road any time in the near future. Unfortunately my repairs to my truck have gone way over budget and I am $1800 into what I though was going to be a $750 job. Plus I haven't added the cost of resealing my ve injection pump so I'm not losing money leaking diesel all the time when it is running.
