I have a 1993 Ram 2500 diesel cummins and since a while the friction point is very high.
At neutral position, the clutch pedal is at 5"3/8 of the floor
When I look attentively of what were going under the clutch pedal I noticed that I could pull the clutch pedal very high. I stopped because I was affraid that the rod inside master cylinder get out. The pedal was at 9"3/4 of the floor.
I have resistance when I push down the clutch pedal.
The pickup start well, no problem.
I noticed also that the safety switch is loose. I can slide it on the rode there is no resistance. The spring inside is certainly broken.
What I understand is the principal purpose of this switch is to start the pickup only when the clutch pedal is pressed.
But was there an other utility like play with the position of the friction point ? Normally this switch is tighly attached to the rode and stop the up movement at a certain distance.
If I change the switch, is the friction point will be automatically corrected ?
The switch should have some variety of mount, that keeps it stationary, so far as I know...... Don't know for sure if it also limits pedal travel or not.
